PORTRAIT

Ibrahim is a passionate vegetarian chef who is originally from Somalia but was born in Kenya. His mom was always cooking for wedding celebrations and these moments were eagerly awaited for because these celebrations. Since then, Ibrahim associates food with happiness. In Cape Town, Ibrahim started cooking East African food with the organization that helped him settle down. The imam running the organization taught him how to cook Indian food and, one recipe after another, Ibrahim’s culinary repertoire was increasing. He became vegetarian about 10 years ago, after a meditation retreat, and is now focused on cooking vegetarian and vegan food. He dreams of the day he will be able to open a vegan restaurant.
